Abstract This paper examines the careers and cultural impact of six female performers commonly associated with South Indian popular cinema—Mallu, Reshma, Roshni, Sindhu, Shakeela, and Charmila—focusing on star image construction, negotiations of sexuality, regional identity, and transmedia circulation.
